A trip to India to source products and discover treasures for Singapore Trading Post is always an adventure. Here's a look at one of Jo and Zoe's trips to India where they spent a few days travelling around meeting with our manufacturing teams and sourcing new treasures. Here's a few of their adventures! The hustle and bustle of the streets is what makes it such a special and very busy place. When going about town to source our unique home décor and furniture pieces we find that the quickest travel mode in India is a ride on a scooter or by rickshaw!

Joo Chiat Map 2021
Joo Chiat Road was a simple dirt track running through the plantations from Geylang Serai to the sea in the 1920s. It was named after Chew Joo Chiat, a wealthy land-owner and philanthropist, who purchased large plots of land in Katong and was known as the “King of Katong". (Urban Redevelopment Authority) In February 2011, the National Heritage Board designated Joo Chiat as Singapore’s first Heritage Town. The award provided funding for the development of heritage and community activities for the area.
